Blurb:

In one terrible instant, Kai is thrown from his comfortable life and plunged into a conflict that began before he was born. Worse yet, he learns that the one man who can help him is his enemy.

Kiameron is the crown prince of DiNolfol.  He is torn between two destinies — taking the crown upon his father’s death or answering the call of his non-Human-like traits, traits associated with the mysterious Stravad.

The decision is made with the destruction of everything he holds dear. Armed with his strange powers and a mysterious talisman he doesn’t know how to use, Kai decides to attack Gava, the despot who destroyed his life.

Crippled by self-doubt and fear, he falters in his quest, until he meets a man who forces him to take action. However, his new ally is hiding secrets, secrets that will rob Kai of everything he held sacred.

Review:

5 Stars – a fantastic story about the battle between good and evil.

It isn’t very often that a book grabs me so much that events in the story bring tears to my eyes.   Emerald is one of those rare (forgive the pun) gems that has captured my heart.

I absolutely Love this story.  The characters are well developed – endearing and interesting. The scenes are vividly described and filled with depth and emotion.

My favorite characters in Emerald have to be Kai and Cy. These two men go through more in this story than I could even imagine, and throughout their trials they each grow stronger and show their depth of character.

I also loves Marri, her story is a small part of this volume but it is a great beginning to a love story that makes me smile.

I would recommend Emerald to anyone who enjoys epic tales of good versus evil.  I will confess that at almost 600 pages Emerald is a long story, but it is well paced and keeps the readers attention throughout the entire length.

I would warn you this, keep a box of tissues handy as you progress toward the end of the book. IT will tug at your heartstrings.

I am definitely looking forward to the second book in the series – Eldon’s Heir.
