4.5 Stars
I have always had a love for stories about mythical creatures, so when I found God’s Masks I had to grab it up.
God’s Masks is filled with intrigue, adventure magic and mystery. Not to mention shape shifting cats, wolves and dragons.
I really enjoyed this story. The characters are fantastic and well developed, the scenes are vividly described and the story flows well.
My favorite character in God’s Masks is definitely Tryailla, the queen of the cat people Tryailla. Now I know that is somewhat confusing but the name of the race, the planet they inhabit and the name of the Queen are all the same. Basically the Queen is the heart of the people so when she becomes queen she takes on the name of the people. But back to Queen Tryailla. She is wise and strong and I enjoy the humorous interactions her lyrical way of speaking caused with her children.
All in all God’s Masks is a great story. There are some great twists and turns in the story and I love that the majority of the questions in the book are answered by the last page. Of course some things are still not completely clear but that is why this is the beginning of a series. J
I am definitely going to be looking for more great work from Tara K Young.
